Stress is an evolving social and medical problem. While eustress can stimulate action and motivate you, distress hinders how your body operates. A life in constant tension leads to the exhaustion of the bodies resources which results in decreased immunity, an increased hypersensitivity, an increase in the secretion of adrenaline and norepenephrine, as well as changes to your skin. It causes emotional hardship, mood-swings, and delayed cognitive reactions in concentration, coordination, and memory. What are the results? For example; disorders of the musculoskeletal system (muscle pain and resulting in joint overload), migraines, hypertension, increased risk of blood clots, breathing difficulties, asthma, and various sleep and mental disorders. Did you know that in the last decade there has been a significant increase in the occurence of these symptoms in patients over 35 years of age? Are you sure that these statistics don’t concern you?
The Cure
Pharmaceuticals are not the magic cure. Each pill can help relieve symptoms, but will not solve the underlying problem. What then, is the long-term solution?
